Spectacular dinosaur dioramas!

In class, this term, we have been making moving, dinosaur dioramas.

Using a shoe box, coloured pencils and pens, card, paper and creativeness we have made dioramas that explain the two main theories for the extinction of the dinosaurs.

1. A series of volcanoes erupting

2. A meteor colliding with earth

Watch the videos and look at the pictures to see how we made these amazing dioramas!

Check out our descriptive dinosaur writing!

After watching a clip from Jurassic Park we decided we would write about the experience Dr Grant had - seeing a brachiosaurus for the first time! Let us know what you think!

Dinosaur branching databases

Using Textease branch, we have been creating branching databases.

A branching database is used to sort and classify data using yes and no answers.

Using a branching database is  like playing "20 questions". You are asked a series of questions, each of which must be answered yes or no. Finally, only one of the choices matches your answers and the object is identified.

After searching and collecting information on 8 - 12 dinosaurs, we have to think of an opening question, with a yes or no answer, that would split our dinosaurs. (Please click the pictures to get a larger image).

By Nathan and Olivia B

Then we had to think of questions to split our remaining dinosaurs.

Our trip to London and the Natural History Museum

On Monday we travelled to London and the Natural History Museum to learn more about our topic this term, dinosaurs.

As well as going to the museum, we were treated to a tour of the city, thanks to our bus driver.

When we arrived at the museum we met Dippy, the diplodocus in the entrance.

We also examined dinosaur skeletons, fossils, eggs, footprints, claws and horns.

We even met a moving, life-size, Tyrannosaurus Rex!

As our day at the museum came to an end we were lucky enough to use our courtesy card money, plus cake sale money, to buy ourselves something from the gift shop!

We really enjoyed our day in London.
