This morning the 5/4 Deers, along with the rest of the juniors, walked down to the church to celebrate harvest and give thanks.
We had a lovely service which included hymns, songs and poems. Each class had to perform/read something. We decided to read some of our acrostic poems.

In maths this week we have been studying shape. After looking at 2d shapes, we then looked at 3d shapes in more detail and learnt the correct mathematical language to use when describing them.
Using straws and blu-tac, we measured and cut accurate lengths of straw to fix together to make a 3d shape. Some of the shapes constructed included cubes, triangular prisms, square-based pyramids, tetrahedrons and octahedrons.
After construction, each shape had to be described, looking at vertices, edges and faces.

In 5/4 Deers this term we are studying the Vikings. Therefore, to start off our topic, we decided we would create some information books.
We use the iPads and the app, Book Creator. This app allowed us to type text, import pictures, change font, underline and rotate images - all handy tools when creating a non-fiction information book.
We needed to ensure we included a front cover, with a sentence explaining what the book was about, pictures, captions, headings (and if we could turn them into questions then that was great!), written in past tense and a glossary.
